About the CIFA...
Founded in 2005 by local filmmaker Michael Huntington, former Chairman of the Cape Filmmaker's Cooperative (CFC), the CIFA is fast becoming a premiere independent filmmaking organization in the Midwest.
The CIFA is a collective organization of area production companies, filmmakers, videographers, actors, musicians, writers, artists, and talented community members interested in all aspects of independent and professional filmmaking.
The CIFA now has a membership of dozens of individuals and local production companies with access to an increasingly wide range of equipment, production facilities, and talent. In it's first year, CIFA members have worked to develop short and feature-length films in the Southeast Missouri area!
The organization oversees the production of film/video projects, encourages and facilitates cooperation amongst filmmakers, promotes filmmaking and the film arts in the region, and sponsors film festivals in Cape Girardeau.

The CIFA is hard at work to make the region a focal point in independent filmmaking! We are continually expanding our organization, widening our influence in the industry, and are striving tirelessly to improve our skills as Digital Age Film Artists! Our ultimate goal is to always be working on video projects and to unite all of our local talents into a valued resource in local arts.
The Cape Independent Film Association will continue to strive to make our region a player in the cinematic arts and an inspiring movement in independent film!
In the near future, the CIFA plans to have more film festivals and showcases (like the "Means of Production Film Festival" and our CIFA Showcase), new and exciting film project to challenge us, and various community arts programs (such as the "CIFA Youth Filmmakers Program" and the "CIFA Screenwriting Competition")!
The CIFA also hopes to, one day, create a Cape Film Studio whose facilities and equipment will be accessible and utilized by local/area filmmakers and video artists!
